SEO

Local SEO for Tasmanian businesses that want to be found.

Built-in from day one — not bolted on as an afterthought.

When someone in Hobart searches "electrician near me" or a tourist on the east coast looks for "best café Bicheno," the businesses that show up at the top aren't there by accident. They have relevant content, consistent local signals, and technically sound websites that tell Google they're exactly what the searcher needs.

SEO for Tasmanian businesses isn't complicated in concept, but it requires consistent execution across a lot of moving parts: keyword targeting, on-page structure, Google Business Profile, schema markup, internal linking, and Search Console monitoring. Miss one and you're leaving rankings on the table.

Local SEO is different from national SEO

Competing nationally means competing with everyone. Competing locally — "plumber Devonport," "café Stanley," "accountant Burnie" — means competing with a much smaller pool of businesses, most of whom haven't invested in their online presence. That's an opportunity. A well-built, properly optimised site can dominate local search results for a Tasmanian business in a way that would be much harder in a larger market.

SEO built in vs. SEO bolted on

Every site I build includes proper heading structure, metadata, schema markup, a submitted sitemap, and Search Console setup from day one. That's the foundation. For businesses that want to go further — targeting specific service areas, building out location pages, or improving existing rankings — I offer ongoing SEO work as a separate engagement.

Paid advertising when you need results now

Organic SEO is a long-term investment, but sometimes you need leads today. I set up and manage paid campaigns across Google Ads and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) — keyword research, audience targeting, ad copy, landing pages, and ongoing optimisation to keep your cost per lead as low as possible. Most clients find the best results come from running paid and organic together: ads for immediate visibility while SEO builds the foundation for sustainable, free traffic over time.

How long does it take to see results from SEO?

Technical fixes and on-page improvements can show results in 4 to 12 weeks as Google recrawls your site. Local SEO improvements — especially Google Business Profile — can show results faster. Competitive keyword rankings take longer and depend heavily on your market and the strength of existing competitors.

Do you offer ongoing SEO management?

Yes. Monthly SEO maintenance covers ranking monitoring, content recommendations, Search Console review, and technical health checks. It is available as a standalone service or as part of a broader maintenance retainer.

What is the difference between SEO and Google Ads?

Google Ads puts your business at the top of search results immediately — but only while you are paying. SEO builds organic rankings that persist and compound over time without ongoing ad spend. For most Tasmanian small businesses, SEO delivers better long-term return on investment. The two can work together, but if budget is limited, a well-optimised site will outperform a dependency on paid ads over time.

Do I need to create new content to rank well?

Not always. Many Tasmanian businesses rank better simply by fixing what is already there — improving meta titles, heading structure, and internal linking on existing pages. If there are clear keyword gaps or service areas you are not visible for, targeted new pages can make a significant difference. I will tell you honestly what your site needs rather than recommending content for its own sake.

Can you improve SEO on my existing website?

Yes. You do not need a new site to see improvements. I can audit and optimise an existing site regardless of what platform it is built on — WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, or a custom build. Fixes are prioritised by impact so you see meaningful improvements without unnecessary work.

Do you do backlink building?

I focus on earning links through quality content and local business signals — directory listings, Google Business Profile, and industry-relevant citations — rather than buying links or using link schemes that risk a Google penalty. For most local Tasmanian businesses, technical SEO and on-page optimisation deliver far more value than an aggressive link-building campaign.
