Barker's Carpet Cleaning
Migrating a North West Tasmanian carpet cleaning business from a bloated static site to WordPress, keeping every feature that mattered and dropping the rest.
Overview
barkerscarpetcleaning.com.auBarker's Carpet Cleaning is a long-running carpet cleaning business on Tasmania's North West coast. Their static site, built years earlier, had become hard to maintain: heavy JavaScript libraries, layers of unused code, and a structure that made small updates a chore. The brief was a clean move to WordPress, keeping every feature in use and dropping the rest.
What we did
- Audit of existing site features and content
- Migration to a modern WordPress build
- Performance and bloat removal
- Mobile-first responsive build
- Streamlined enquiry flow

The Project
A long-running local business, finally on the right platform.
An old static site weighed down by years of JavaScript and unused code, moved to a maintainable WordPress build.
Barker's has a strong word-of-mouth reputation across the North West coast. The website had done the basic job for years, but the foundation had become a problem: heavy JavaScript libraries, code nobody could explain, and an editing experience the owner couldn't use without help.
The work started with an audit. What does the site do, what does it need to do, and what's only there because no-one removed it? Most sites that have run for several years have a lot of the third category. Barker's was no exception.
The new site runs WordPress with a custom theme, only the plugins it needs, and a content structure the owner can update without a developer. Removing the unused JavaScript libraries made pages load noticeably faster. The enquiry flow was tightened so a visitor on the homepage is one click from requesting a quote on any device.
