cablestationstanley.auCable Station Stanley is an agri-tourism business in Stanley, on Tasmania's North West coast. Its website was built years earlier on a commercial WordPress theme. Over time, features had stopped working, plugins had piled up, and the theme was being used in ways it was never designed for. The brief: keep what worked, throw out what didn't, and end up with a site that represents the business.

Years of theme bloat, properly cleaned up.
Cable Station Stanley's old WordPress site was held together by plugins and a theme pushed well beyond what it was built for.
Cable Station Stanley needed a website that did justice to the place and stopped dragging the business down with years of technical debt.
A commercial theme was a reasonable starting point in 2018. Five years on, features had quietly broken as WordPress updated underneath, plugins were stacked on plugins to work around the theme's limits, and the configuration had drifted far from the original. The site was slow, fragile and increasingly insecure.
The rebuild kept the content and structure and threw out the rest. A custom theme replaced the off-the-shelf one, so every line of code is there because the site needs it. The plugin count dropped substantially, and performance and security improved as a result.
