Diesel Heat

Ongoing development, customisation, and security management for a busy WooCommerce online store selling, installing, and servicing diesel appliances — custom product pages, custom checkout flows, and properly maintained infrastructure on PHAS hosting.

Overview

dieselheat.com.au

Diesel Heat sells, installs, and services diesel-powered appliances. The site is a busy WooCommerce store with the kind of operational complexity that only shows up once you're actually running a real online business — custom product configurations, non-standard checkout flows, integrations with stock and shipping, and the constant low-level work of keeping a public-facing e-commerce site secure and current. Hamish handles the development side end to end, alongside security and maintenance.

The Project

A genuinely busy online store, properly looked after.

Diesel Heat needed an experienced developer to extend WooCommerce well beyond the defaults, then keep the resulting site secure and reliable as the business kept growing.

Diesel Heat runs one of those online stores that's deceptively complex once you look under the hood. The product range covers diesel heaters, cookers, and the supporting parts and accessories — all of which need to be configurable, all of which have specific compatibility rules, and most of which require nuanced product information for customers who actually know what they're looking at.

The standard WooCommerce setup gets you about 80% of the way for a generic store and almost none of the way for a specialised one like this. The work has been steady customisation across both the front end (custom product pages, search filters that actually understand the catalogue, a checkout that handles the realities of installation services and shipping diesel appliances) and the back end (integrations with the operational tools the team uses day-to-day, plus the constant low-level care a real e-commerce site needs).

Alongside the development work, the engagement covers security and maintenance — keeping WordPress, WooCommerce, and the long list of supporting plugins all current, watching for vulnerabilities, and stepping in when something needs urgent attention. The site runs on Australian infrastructure through PHAS, with a separate staging environment for testing changes before they hit production. For a business that takes orders 24/7, the site needs to be the last thing the team has to worry about.
