The relationship started as a hosting engagement — Hamish looking after their server and ongoing maintenance — and grew naturally from there. Over time, it became clear the existing site was holding the Foundation back, and the work expanded into a full redesign and rebuild covering everything from the visual direction through to a new donations flow and events calendar.

What started as hosting and maintenance grew into a full redesign — donations, events, and a website that does justice to the work the Foundation actually does.
The Newsboys Foundation funds Victorian community organisations doing work with young people who would otherwise miss out — the kind of work that's high-leverage, often under-funded, and rarely shouted about. The Foundation needed a website that reflected the seriousness of the mission while making it easy for grant applicants, partner organisations, and donors to do the things they came to the site to do.
The engagement started narrow — Hamish was brought on to look after hosting and ongoing maintenance for the existing WordPress site. That kind of work tends to surface a lot of incidental information about how a site is actually being used, and it became clear over time that the existing build was working against the Foundation rather than for it. The site was slow, the navigation didn't reflect how visitors actually moved through the content, and core functions like donations and event listings were either missing or awkwardly bolted on.
The redesign covered all of it. A modern, accessible visual direction. A site structure rebuilt around what visitors actually need to find. A proper donations system and an events calendar that feed into the rest of the site cleanly. Ongoing development continues from there — the engagement is now a full-stack web partnership rather than just keeping the lights on.
