The Strength Den

Wireframing, graphic design, and a WordPress build for an independent Burnie gym — hosted on Australian infrastructure through PHAS, with a content workflow the owner can run single-handedly.

Overview

thestrengthden.com.au

The Strength Den is an independent gym in Burnie offering a range of membership options for everyone from complete beginners through to experienced lifters. The brief was a complete website refresh — from initial wireframing and graphic design through to a finished WordPress build hosted on Australian infrastructure. The site needed to communicate the welcoming, no-nonsense character of the gym, surface membership options clearly, and make it easy for prospective members to take the next step.

The Project

A local gym, properly represented online.

The Strength Den needed a website that matched the character of the gym — welcoming, no-nonsense, and built around getting prospective members through the door.

The Strength Den is one of those gyms that genuinely feels different the moment you walk in — an independent space with a serious training culture but a notably welcoming attitude. The website needed to communicate that, and it needed to do the practical work of getting prospective members from "interested" to "signed up" without making them hunt for information.

The project started with wireframing — laying out the page structure, the membership options, and the conversion path before any visual design. Once the structure was approved, the graphic design followed: a visual direction that leaned into the gym's identity rather than borrowing the generic stock-photo look most gym websites default to.

The build is on WordPress, hosted on Australian infrastructure through PHAS — a deliberate setup for a small business owner who needs to be able to update class times, add news, and keep the site current without involving a developer for every change. Fast for visitors, painless to maintain, and properly looked after at the server level.
